Prof. Gérard Malka

Prof. Gérard Malka is graduated from Orsay University in Paris in 1997. He held a doctoral position at CEA-Limeil Valenton, on the first 100 TW CPA laser pulse, P102. He worked on fast ignition topics by studying experimentally the generation of multi MeV electron producing by the interaction of UHI laser with solid and gas target. He held two post-doctoral positions, one at Imperial College in London with Prof. O.Willi (experiments on VULCAN at RAL) in 1998 and one at Orsay University (LPGP) with Dr. G.Matthieussent in 1999. End of 1999, he became an associated professor at Bordeaux University, at CENBG, with Prof. J.F. Chemin. He developed the activity of the characterization of the fast particles generated by the interaction of UHI beam
using photo nuclear activation and studied the effect of the modification of the nuclear
structure induced by deep electron transition in laser plasma interaction. In 2008, he moved to CELIA at Bordeaux University, where he worked on fast ignition topics, the generation of fast particles, the stopping power of ions in correlated plasma, and more recently on proton boron fusion (experiments at CEA, PALS, ELI, LULI, GSI, IENA, RAL…).
