About

Shreyas J. Kashyap, originally from Bengaluru, the tech capital of India, has always been deeply fascinated by the materials that shape our world- how they transform, evolve, and behave under varying conditions. His academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Ramaiah Institute of Technology (2020), where he developed an interest in materials research.

During his undergraduate years, Shreyas worked in materials science and polymer technology. He later continued his research as a graduate trainee at the Centre for Advanced Materials & Technology (CAMT), where he explored the structural, morphological, and optical properties of La-based perovskites and transition metal oxides for possible applications in electro- and photocatalysis.

His growing interest in nanomaterials led him to pursue a Master’s degree in Nanoscience and Technology from the University of Hyderabad (2023) for which he was also awarded the graduate aptitude test in engineering (GATE) scholarship. For his thesis, Shreyas collaborated with the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), focusing on low-cost iron-based cathode materials and coal-derived carbon anodes for lithium-ion batteries. Following his master’s, Shreyas joined OLA Cell Technologies as a Research Engineer, where he worked on dry battery electrode engineering and high capacity silicon-based anodes.

His interest in understanding and controlling material properties led him from energy storage to laser processing and photonics for his PhD. Currently, Shreyas is pursuing a PhD at the Université Paris-Saclay jointly with the University of New South Wales-Sydney. He is investigating the impact of femtosecond-laser induced transformations on novel glass systems, including optical fibers and associated components (Bragg gratings, etc.). His findings could contribute to the development of robust optical components for extreme environments.

Interests

Beyond his research, Shreyas is interested in photography and graphic design. He is also passionate about fitness and enjoys spending time at the gym to maintain a balanced lifestyle.
