Min Ni

About

Min Ni is a multidisciplinary designer and researcher in virtual and augmented reality. She was born in Ningbo, the world’s busiest port connecting to the trade routes in the Pacific Ocean.She holds a Master’s degree in Virtual and Augmented Reality from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a Bachelor’s degree in Filmmaking from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in China, complemented by a VFX specialization from Dongseo University in South Korea.

Her experience spans immersive technology and interactive design, with a passion for balancing engaging and functional design for human-centered applications. During her master’s, she focused on visual pseudo-haptic feedback and user joy with VFX in VR physical games, with her work presented at ISMAR 2024. As an Innovation Designer Intern at Orange (Telecom) in London, she contributed to the ‘Immersive Now’ VR platform with accessibility research and AR experience design. At Singer Studios london, she worked as a technical artist, applying procedural generation and real-time VFX techniques to the immersive movie Trailblazer, which was nominated for The Three Lions Award. After that, she moved to Germany to continue her academic journey as a research associate, conducting research at TU Ilmenau on spatial behavior and non-verbal communication in volumetric video.

Min is now pursuing a PhD focused on augmented reality and perception-driven spatial design.

Interests

Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Min enjoys bouldering, badminton, creating and playing indie games, and fashion photography.
