Ethics Procedure for AUFRANDE research projects
AUFRANDE research projects must comply with the national and European requirements in terms of ethics. Researchers must follow the policies and procedures in place at their host institutions.
Ethics Self-Assessment
For each project, the researchers are required to complete an Ethics Self-Assessment form. The form must be reviewed yearly and amended when necessary.
Find out more in the European Commission’s guidelines on how to complete your ethics self-assessment.
Ethics issues
When a potential ethics issue is identified, review and approval must be sought from the appropriate ethics review bodies at both host institutions, in France and Australia. Those ethics review bodies will assess the issues and provide guidance reports on how to proceed, which may include requirements and restrictions on aspects of the research plan.
For activities undertaken in non-EU countries, the ethics review body of the French host must confirm that the research conducted outside the EU would be legal if it were conducted in the EU.
Researchers are required to inform the AUFRANDE Management Team on any ethics issues arising and make available all documentation required or provided by the ethics review bodies, including copies of individual opinions and approvals, and subsequent ethics progress reports.
