Dr. Simona Mihaita is a Senior Lecturer at UTS, founder and leader of the Future Mobility Lab.
She is the winner of the 2022 Women in AI Infrastructure Awards, a triple finalist in the 2021 IoT Awards – Smart Cities, 2021 ITS Australia for Transport Data and R&D Excellence, winner of the 2018 ITS Australia National Awards for Research Excellence, was awarded a Monash Business School Scholarship for Women in Leadership 2018, and interviewed by Channel 7 News and The Guardian.
She secured funding over $5M from various initiatives, such as the Australian-Singapore Strategic Collaboration, an ARC Linkage Project, the “Premiere’s Innovation Initiative” for easing congestion in Sydney, and several iMOVE CRC projects.
Dr Mihaita published her research in 44 peer-reviewed publications, including book chapters, top IEEE journals, and international conferences. Her total citations are 470, and her H-index is 13 (Dec 2022, Google Scholar). She is co-supervising 7 PhD students, in several areas across incident management, multi-modal transport management, risky driving prediction and public transport optimisation.
