Prof. Sumeet Walia

Sumeet Walia is a professor of electronics and materials engineering at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. His interdisciplinary research explores fundamentals of low-dimensional materials to underpin applications in miniaturized smart electronics, optoelectronics, functional coatings, neuromorphic sensors, and antimicrobial technologies. He is passionate about solving industry challenges using fundamental innovation for the benefit of the end user. He has published over 125 journal articles and an inventor on ten patents. Sumeet actively partners with industry to take innovations in the lab through a translational pathway to create real-world impact.

He co-chairs Science and Technology Australia’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and works actively to enhance Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Access in STEM.
