Project Brief

The purpose of this PhD relies on the generation of novel advanced hybrid materials with tailored-made properties for applications in energy. This project is focused into the acquiring of in-depth knowledge on the preparation and characterization of porous hybrids by connecting 2D nanosheets to form 3D networks with controlled properties. Towards this end, hybrids architectures comprising transition metal dichalcogenides tethered with suitably designed molecules will be employed to achieve a highest control over the structure and porosity. The physical and chemical properties of the hybrids will be studied and optimized for advanced applications in electrocatalysis. The work will include multiscale characterization of compositional, morphological/structural, electrochemical, and spectroscopical properties.
