Prof. Pierre-François Brevet
About
Pierre-François Brevet has obtained his PhD from the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 in 1988 on Molecular Beam Spectroscopy under the supervision of Prof. Michel Broyer. He then moved to the University of Edinburgh (United Kingdom) to take a post-doc position in Cluster Physics and Spectroscopy before moving to Switzerland and the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 1992 where in joined the newly formed Laboratory of Physical and Applied Electrochemistry of Prof. Hubert H. Girault to develop the use of nonlinear optical methods for the study of liquids and liquid-liquid interfaces in particular.
He was appointed Full Professor in 2000 at the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 where he founded the Nonlinear Optics and Interfaces research group where he has a since developed two main line of research involving the use of nonlinear optical methods. The first research line is being devoted to nonlinear nanophotonics and nonlinear plasmonics with the fundamental and applied study of metallic nanoparticles. The second line of research follows from the initial studies in Switzerland on liquids and investigate at the molecular level the structure and the dynamics of liquids both in the volume and at the interfaces.
