International Women in STEM Day
To celebrate the International Women in STEM Day, Widi Kurniawati, AUFRANDE Doctoral Candidate in co-tutelle between ICMCB (CNRS – Université de Bordeaux) and Deakin University, delivered an inspiring presentation highlighting not only the crucial role of women in science and technology, but also the broader importance of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in STEM.
The webinar was a special collaboration between the PPI Dunia (OISAA) and Mediterranean Researchers’ Night – MEDNIGHT, an initiative by the Marie Curie Alumni Association.
During her presentation, Widi emphasised that solving real-world scientific challenges—like those in energy storage—requires diverse insights and inclusive collaboration to drive meaningful progress. She also shared her research in cutting-edge battery technologies, focusing on solid-state batteries, which offer safer and more efficient energy storage solutions.
“We aim to inspire more women to pursue STEM not to dominate the field, but to ensure equal opportunities for all—because when everyone can thrive, science evolves in the best way possible,” said Widi.
