Assoc. Prof. Alexis Giauque
About
An alumnus from École Centrale Paris (ECP) and holding a PhD from Institut national polytechnique de Toulouse (INPT/CERFACS), Alexis Giauque joined École Centrale de Lyon in 2013 after two years of postdoctoral studies at Stanford University and four years in the numerical acoustics research group at the French Aerospatial Research Centre (ONERA). He is Associate Professor in the Department of Fluid Mechanics, Acoustics and Energetics (MFAE). He teaches fluid dynamics and energy transfer in the context of the aerodynamics and energetics of turbomachinery flows. His research interests involve advanced simulation techniques (Direct Numerical Simulation and Large Eddy Simulation) for transonic flows in compressors and turbines. He is especially interested in compressible turbulence modelling for the prediction of real gas flows and develops subgrid-scale models through the combination of large-scale databases produced by high-resolution simulations and state-of-the-art machine learning approaches.
