About

Dr Dipan Kundu is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Chemical Engineering at the University of New South Wales. His research experience and expertise span the areas of electrochemistry, electrochemical energy storage, solid-state chemistry, materials science, and physicochemical characterizations of materials. Dipan obtained his bachelor’s degree (Chemistry Honours) from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira (Calcutta University) and 3 years M.S. (Integrated PhD program, Chemical Sciences) from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc.), Bangalore, India. Later he received his PhD, working with Prof. Reinhard Nesper at ETH Zurich in Switzerland and spent nearly four years as a postdoc with Prof. Linda F. Nazar at the University of Waterloo. In 2015-2016, he cofounded and led the R&D activity at Salient Energy (Canada), a spinoff out of his postdoctoral research. From 2017 till joining UNSW he was a group leader at the Dept. of Materials at ETH Zurich through the Swiss National Science Foundation Ambizione Grant. His research interests are Electrochemical energy storage research; Lithium solid-state batteries and solid electrolytes; Aqueous zinc-ion batteries; Li-ion, Na-ion, Li-O2, and Li-S batteries; Solid-state electrochemistry; Operando electrochemical studies of battery electrodes; research cell design & development; Materials development & optimization for energy storage applications; Nanomaterials and composites; Solid-State & inorganic chemistry. https://sites.google.com/view/unsw-lbri
